Beyond the Game: Leadership, Competition + Cooperation

Beyond the Game is a dynamic PE course that goes deeper than physical skills—it’s about building leadership, fostering teamwork, and mastering the art of cooperation through competitive and collaborative activities. Students will participate in team sports, group challenges, and strategy-based games designed to develop communication, problem-solving, and resilience. This course empowers students to lead, support, and succeed together—skills that matter both on and off the field.

TEAM SPORTS - Basketball, Touch Rugby, Soccer, Netball, Volleyball

GROUP CHALLENGES - Trust Activities, Problem Solving, Physical Puzzles

LEADERSHIP - Peer Coaching, Student Led Tournaments, Game Management

Go Solo: Building Skills 4 Life

Go Solo is a dynamic PE course designed to help students discover and master a variety of individual activities that promote lifelong fitness and personal growth. From precision-based sports, recreational games, and lifestyle activities, this course emphasizes self-improvement, resilience, and healthy habits. Students will learn how to develop skills that enhance physical and mental well-being—empowering them to thrive beyond the classroom.

Activities to expect:

RACQUETS - Pickleball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Badminton

TARGETS - Golf, Archery

CHALLENGE - Climbing, Martial Arts, Dance

ENDURANCE - Cycling, Rowing, Fitness Racing

Move 2 Thrive: Building Habits 4 a Stronger Life

This PE course is designed to help students to build lifelong habits that improve overall wellbeing. Through active learning and practical strategies students will explore the pillars of health; movement, stress management, sleep habits and nutrition. The focus is on creating sustainable routines that enhance energy and performance. By the end of the course the students will have the tools to move better, feel better and live better.

Activities to expect:

MOBILITY + RECOVERY - Breath Work, Meditation, Nutrition, Sleep Hygiene, Stretching

STRENGTH - Circuits, Callisthenics, Functional Training

MOVEMENT - Hiking, Group Classes, Yoga, Fitness

Physical Education 9

Grade 9 PE introduces students to a wide range of activities that encourage an exploration of the connection between physical activity and lifelong health and health-related fitness. The course provides an introduction to strength principles and the skills, techniques and safety necessary to engage in strength-related exercise. Through a variety of sports, students demonstrate basic strategies and an understanding of rules that shape different games. Students develop interpersonal skills such as cooperation, communication and conflict management. Students are able to develop a holistic approach to being physically active through engaging in and learning about different activities that promote wellbeing.

Physical Education 11

In Grade 11 students will explore sports that are designed to develop tactical game competency and to target each student’s skill level through differential teaching strategies that enable individual skill progression. In the fitness and strength units they will learn the relevant anatomy and physiology to better understand how biomechanics alongside energy system training can be tweaked to enhance sports performance. This class will use current technology to regulate and monitor fitness which will enable students to set relevant goals and track improvements. Emphasis will be placed on developing the skills, both mentally and physically to improve whether that be in a team sport or as an individual. Students will be required to monitor and record their physical activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Physical Education 12

This course is a full year and rotates on the A/B schedule inside the Wellbeing Block. Students who choose this option will have their PE class inside of the Wellbeing Block, forgoing the time to work on Senior Project.

The Grade 12 PE course allows students to develop a balance between their social, mental and physical well-being. Students will consolidate their skills and game knowledge through sports and activities with a focus on developing interests that they can pursue at college. Within the fitness and conditioning units they will develop bespoke training plans that will foster positive habits that will enhance their quality of life. Through peer teaching they will be reflective, grow socially as leaders, be positive supporters, and develop interpersonal skills. The ultimate goal is for students to be properly equipped with the knowledge and skills and to have developed health related interests to continue to be successful. Students should be monitoring and recording their physical activity because they wish to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Strength Lab: Build Power, Speed + Resilience

This advanced PE course is designed for students who want to take their fitness to the next level through structured strength and conditioning. Emphasizing proper technique, progressive overload, and functional training, students will develop power, speed, and endurance while learning how to train safely and effectively. The course integrates mobility work, performance tracking, recovery and support strategies to build a strong foundation for lifelong health.
