Social Media Guidelines

Discussing HKIS on Social Media

Social media is a great way to share positive news and events about HKIS, as well as to communicate factual information about policies and school life with others in our community. In line with the HKIS Community Partnership and Communication Guidelines in our school policies, all communications on such channels must assume good intent, be constructive, and communicate care, respect for others and sensitivity for diversity.

We would also like to emphasise that specific student issues are best discussed privately with school representatives, not on group chats (e.g. WhatsApp, WeChat, mass emails) or public platforms (e.g.: closed or public groups or pages on Facebook, Twitter).

Neither should members of our community lobby for changes in policy or procedure on these platforms. Please refer to the Sequence of Communication Channels in the HKIS Community Partnership and Communication Guidelines for the appropriate procedures on how to address concerns at the school.

Posting photos and stories on social media accounts are a wonderful way to share life at HKIS with friends and family. For the safety and privacy of our students, please be reminded that photos taken on campus should not be shared on any public profiles or media outlets without the consent of the school. Please refer to HKIS’s Social Media Policy (Policy 3180, available on DragonNet) for more details.

HKIS Marketing Office: Stories and Snapshots

HKIS's Marketing Office shares stories about HKIS with our community and the public. These are distributed through different channels, such as News & Media page on the school website, DragonBites stories and DragonTales Magazine on HKIS Pages, and the Dragonwaves podcast. Please also follow HKIS's social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Any use of the HKIS name, acronym or logo must be approved by the HKIS office of marketing and communications in advance. Students seeking to use the HKIS name (in part or in full) or any of the HKIS logos should submit a request through their faculty advisor or sponsor and wait for approval.

Student organizations (including all cocurricular groups) identifying or associating themselves with HKIS on social media must register themselves at the start of each school year, following the guidelines shared by Senate.
