Principal's Welcome

Dear High School Students and Families,

Welcome to grades 9-12 at HKIS, and welcome to another exciting year on our beautiful Tai Tam campus. Whether you are joining our community for the first time or returning for another year, we are delighted to have you with us and look forward to the journey ahead.

High school is a remarkable season of growth, possibility, and purpose. While these years are often viewed as a beginning, they are also the culmination of the experiences, relationships, and learning that have shaped students throughout their educational journey. By the time students reach Grades 9–12, they are increasingly ready to exercise independence, embrace new challenges, and chart a path that reflects their unique strengths, interests, and aspirations.

At HKIS, we believe there is no single definition of success and no single path to achieving it. Each student brings different talents, passions, and goals to our community. Some will distinguish themselves through service and leadership. Others will leave their mark through athletics, the arts, academic pursuits, innovation, entrepreneurship, or community engagement. What unites our students is not the path they choose, but the commitment to grow, contribute, and make a positive difference in the world around them.

As members of the HKIS community, our students have extraordinary opportunities to learn and lead both within and beyond our campus. Through service, leadership, athletics, activities, and academic experiences, students are challenged to think beyond themselves and consider how their gifts and talents can contribute to the wider community. Whether representing HKIS in Hong Kong, across Asia, or on the international stage, our students serve as the embodiment of our school's values, character, and commitment to excellence.

Along the way, students are supported by a dedicated team of teachers, advisors, coaches, counselors, staff, and administrators who are committed to walking beside them throughout their high school journey. We see ourselves as partners with students and families, working together to help each young person develop the confidence, character, and skills needed to flourish both during high school and beyond.

This handbook serves as a resource for the policies, procedures, and practices that guide our school community. More importantly, it reflects our commitment to creating an environment where students are challenged, supported, and known. We encourage students and families to use this handbook as a starting point and to reach out whenever questions arise. Our faculty, staff, and administrators are always eager to help.

Thank you for being part of the HKIS High School community. We are excited for the opportunities, challenges, discoveries, and growth that lie ahead, and we look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year.

Sincerely,

Aimmie Kellar
